there's this boy who goes to my university who i do not know, but somehow came across on thefacebook.com (!) and he is funny because he is in 94 groups, most of them along the lines of:
fuck republicans republicans fucking suck republicans give bad head i hate conservatives i hate george bush hilary rodham clinton is hot! BUSH: still not my president why is colorado a red state? i hate the united states capitol hill is a corrupt shithole, fuck it george bush doesn't care about black people liberals are hot john roberts... is he charasmatic or what? LIBERALS R HOTT!!!!! fucking enron, fuck fuck the world is run by rich white men... like my dad. fuck my dad! republicans can't party like the democratic PARTAYYYYYY howard dean for president george bush eats babies women against bush gays against bush indians against bush fbla members for bush... fuck fbla! kerry is a national hero clinton is still my president i hate republicans fuck dick cheney fuck karl rove fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
not that i am categorically opposed to any of these sentiments, besides the fact that they're obviously really childish and betray almost no knowledge of anything except middle school insults. but such is the nature of facebook groups. anyway, the point is, amidst this onslaught of juvenile "liberal" espousals of hate, there is one group that stands out:
I LOVE BODY SHOTS!!!!!!!
one of a kind, this guy.

funny that in all this paperwork i've been filling out lately, the hardest question is ALWAYS of location. do i put my current address? my parents address (which is about to change anyway)? my summer address? nothing? all of these tactics have been employed and it's kind of tiring. so i just fill out whichever comes to mind first and know that a huge amount of miscellaneous mail will be appearing at these doorsteps at random in the next few months. fuck permanent addresses!
additionally! in portland oregon. we met these kids. and the best thing, something i haven't felt in awhile, was that i KNEW they were for real. it was such a relief to be able to hand over my hotel room key without a second thought to kids i'd met just hours before. so we switched. after two years of sleeping in their van, outside in parks, under eaves, on floors of abandoned buildings, they took the beds in our hilton hotel room, and after 20 years of sleeping on high thread-counts, feather top mattresses, and under electric blankets, we joined over 600 people in portland in sleeping under bright city lights on concrete. not to say it was even nearly a replication or enough to matter, but it was great nonetheless.

FRIENDS!
so you guys should do this. this is something i really care about, and a conflict i've been paying really close attention to and working on campaigns about for like the last year. pretty big deal in my life. i'm doing it in portland, OR, where like 600 people are signed up, and a bunch (shit-ton?) of my friends are doing it in denver/boulder too. so you and everyone you know should do it in buffalo (only 10 people signed up -- TERRIBLE), new york (350ish people signed up), toronto (47 people signed up), etc.
INFO (educate yourselves):
******
GLOBAL NIGHT COMMUTE APRIL 29th On April 29th, rain or shine, all across America thousands of people will commute to the downtown of their cities, and sleep in the streets for the children of Northern Uganda.
Why should you do it? Tonight in Northern Uganda, and every night for the past 20 years, an estimated 40,000 children commute to the centers of their towns to escape abduction from a violent rebel army. By taking one night to do the same, we are empathizing with these children, making a statement of unity with them, and demanding that the US government as well as the UN take action towards bringing this war to an end. On February 2, 2006 Senator Inhofe brought the atrocities of Northern Uganda to the attention of Senate and pushed the conflict to be on the high-level attention of the U.S. government. We want to reinforce pressures on the government to act on this initiative. After a recent trip to Washington D.C., the filmmakers met with key lobbyists, non-governmental organization leaders, senators, and other officials who informed them that a gathering such as this would be instrumental in showing the nationwide support for Betty Bigombes peace process, a knowledge and concern for the people of Northern Uganda, and as a priority to us, we are pushing for it to be a priority to the figure heads who represent us. This evening should be treated with no less urgency, this event has the potential to end a war. The Global Night Commute will help bring a unity, strength, and voice to those Americans who have been moved by this issue. We are channeling Americans rarely flexed influence, towards the atrocities we saw, and speaking out against the thousands of lives being lost without assistance action being taken.
******
so do it! it'll be fun to the max! there's more information at www.invisiblechildren.com and some specific cities have myspace pages (whoo hoo the internet). seriously, buffalo people, it probably won't happen there if only TEN PEOPLE are doing it, so you all should at least consider it.

oh man jean-jacques rousseau is so HOT (read Confessions). i am discovering more and more how much i truly love and appreciate ego and extremism. i just want things to be as big or as small as possible. everything's always so sterile, so modest, and i LOVE people who proclaim themselves the best the smartest the most worthy, because no one else will do it. and i like watching people react to these people, draw away from them. because whether it's true or not, no one is willing to recognize their own capacity. too NICE. not to say i have any respect for ego without reason or extremism without true conviction. it's easy to tell if it's based in something i think, and meritless ego is just as repulsive as purposeful mediocrity. i also really like vincent gallo. for this reason only.

rtd's on strike. FUCKING A. lots of "if only"s that would make this a lot less of a pain in the ass (if only my bike wasn't broken, if only i'd driven back from buffalo, if only i lived anywhere else i've EVER lived in boulder). to The Man: concede, concede, concede. i've got places to be. something that would ease the ache of inconvenience: if the signs that tell how long til a bus comes changed over to something like "WE'RE ON STRIKE! DEAL WITH IT! START WALKING!, etc". i'd like that.
school politics will lead me to a sorority this evening. ha (ick). a date with a 30 year old law student. ha. laundry? ha!
